By the time this picture was taken much had transpired. During our long wait I remembered that one of my best friends, Jason, who lives about ten minutes from me, was born and raised in Northern California and had returned home to McKinleyville (80 miles north of Garberville) to work with his brother and make some extra money for the summer. So I called another close friend, his brother-in-law Brent, back in So Cal to get Jason's parent's phone number and made the call. I finally got a hold of him around 7:00 p.m. and begged him to give us a ride to Frisco. In retrospect it was a bit much to ask of someone, who had just worked an arduous day in the sun, to drive 80 miles to pick us up and then drive another 200 miles to San Francisco. But the scholar and the gentleman Jason was, he agreed to pick us up and take us back to his parent's house where we could shower and sleep. The next morning he gave us a ride to the Arcata airport where we rented the car in the picture. And yes, Mia's face tells the story, though this one is markedly different. We headed back south which is when we took the pics of the call box and Garberville/Redway sign.
